Run outside – 5.96km/6:24/38:01min (if I had to guess, I’d say there was probably close to 5cm of freshly fallen/still falling snow)

Well winter returned yesterday, to say the least. And today she’s gone again. This weather is whack.
Remember Friday’s post about the first step out the front door is the hardest? Yesterday, that could have easily been the understatement of the year. Mostly because outside looked like this: desolate.
I was really eager to get outside and run today (as I had taken the last couple days off), but at the same time I was dreading the cold, heavy falling snow. Once I got out I nearly turned around 5min in because I couldn’t see a darn thing – the snow was falling so heavy! Not a word of a lie, I ran with my head turned sideways for (what felt like) at least the first 5km. Yes, I know what you’re thinking – I only ran .96km more after that. Oh well, I felt great once finished, and even thought it seemed like a slower pace, the heavy snow added for an extra workout which was nice. Look at the bright side, at least it wasn’t -50*.
This is what happens when you venture outside the Big Smoke: there is no smog bubble to prevent appropriate winter weather.
I just wanted a photo with Jack…he could’ve cared less.
I forgot to bring my running hat to my parents place this weekend. But luckily I found an old LuLulemon toque that I got for Christmas a few years ago – even had the ponytail hole in the back. It was a bit snug, but did the trick. Must be that massive head I have.
I don’t think they have mine anymore, but here is probably an even better one.
Anyone head out running yesterday in the snow? Or some beautiful, sunny warm weather?
