BodyFlow class – 1hour
I’ll be the first to admit, I’ve been seriously lacking in the stretch department. I know stretching is a vital part (or should be) of any runner’s routine schedule. The benefits seriously seem endless:
– Increased flexibility
– Better range of motion of the joints
– Greater circulation of blood to various parts of the body
– Relaxation and stress relief
– Enhanced muscular coordination
– Improved posture
– And the list goes on…
But when I get home from a run, I tend to get either distracted or simply lazy. It’s funny because when I’m just working out on my own at the gym, I always incorporate some sort of stretching into the time allotted. But not when I run.
Since I’ve been feeling pretty tight the past few days…actually more like the past week…I thought it would be good to venture over to the gym and do a BodyFlow class:
“A combination of Yoga, Tai Chi, and Pilates that builds flexibility and strength while leaving you feeling centred and calm.”
And anyone that knows me, knows I can be the complete opposite of calm (at times).
Although my schedule currently calls for Monday as an “off day”, I’ve decided to incorporate this class into my schedule every Monday evening. That said, the inclusion of this class by no meanssays that I shouldn’t stretch every other time I work out or run. Buuuut it’s definitely something I need to work on. My hope is that this class will just get me in the right mindset.
